Social media and society

What a lovely day... Met one of my old school friends on FB, had a video chat with one of my ex colleague and then, in the meanwhile, I cooked, cleaned my house while chatting with my friends and cousin on whatsapp..(App for chatting on phones)
Sounds good!! Thanks to technology that has created this imaginary yet real "chatsphere" around us.

But the moment you come out of this sphere, we feel lonely as never before. What an irony, you talk to your friends on FB more than face to face, you like their activity, praise their pics and what not.. But when you meet them it’s the same relationship, in many cases, it’s not that sugar coated as it appears on social media.
The objective of existing social network was to connect you with our friends and may be, help them when required. Alas! we have started displaying our love, success and opinions towards others....I am yet to see someone sharing their story on how to reach that love, success or opinions.

I believe that this showcasing of incomplete story of our lives is inspired by our societal mannerisms. Mannerisms that are instilled in us right from the time we grew up, we have been told to cry in private and smile in public or what will people say. Though I believe that washing your dirty linen in public is bad yet I do not agree with statement of “What will people say" (Anyways, we will come to this, in my next post)

For now, I believe people have started using social media channels not to influence society or connecting with long lasting friend, but to show off their one sided story.

It would be great to see all of us sharing our story that led us not only to success but steps to success that might include our failures so others know what to do and what not. Then we will become social media centric society and not just society, then we will have our own rules and not the ones laid long time back.
